What to Expect During Your Chiropractic Assessment

It’s time to join your neighbors and let our Doctors show you exactly how you can measure your health, and get to the ROOT CAUSE of your health concerns. Using the latest technology, we will assess the function of your nervous system and health of your spinal structure. By revealing any spine and/or neurological issues that may be impacting your health, we can help you plan a program to achieve optimal health, function and improved quality of life.

Your Health History

You’ll fill out some paperwork so that we can understand your health concerns. To help you save time in the office we have provided the New Practice Member Form here. You can submit it right here online, or print and fill these forms out before your appointment, saving you 10 to 15 minutes in the office.

It is of utmost importance to us to make care affordable and convenient for you, so while you’re taking a look around, we’ll get starting on finding out how much your insurance covers chiropractic care, so you will know up front your portion of any services before they are provided, and so that we can fully discuss the financial options of your care with you.

The Chiropractic Assessment

Our thorough assessment, using the most state-of-the-art  technology in the field and spanning several important aspects of diagnostic techniques, will evaluate the location and severity of stress and nerve interference in your body. Our multi-phase assessment allows us to fully understand the state of your health.

Don’t worry, our procedures are gentle and totally non-invasive! 

To understand the current function of your central nervous system, we use a state-of-the-art technology that is literally “space age” (This spinal care technology developed for U.S. astronauts is certified by The Space Foundation). Our thermal scan is based on temperature readings from both sides of your spine and can show us disturbances to your nervous system due to physical stresses and tension on the spinal cord and nerves. These conditions in your autonomic nervous system, which controls all organs, glands and systems in the body, can be the root cause or major contributing factors to many health concerns.

At Elevate Chiropractic, we’re proud of our understanding of various methods to measure the state of your health. One measurement that we use is called Heart Rate Variability (HRV).

HRV is currently the gold standard in measuring the body’s ability to adapt to stressors, and is considered the best measure of Wellness potential. While it’s gaining traction in the world of Functional Medicine, Integrative Health, and in many hospitals incorporating wellness checks, it’s still largely ignored by most chiropractors. We know the value of it and make HRV part of your Chiropractic Assessment. We measure your Heart Rate Variability and factor your score into our assessment. It lets us look at the balance that exists between your Sympathetic (fight or flight) and Parasympathetic (rest, digest and heal) portions of your Autonomic Nervous System. Balance is vital to your health, and the body’s ability to switch (in a heartbeat) between systems is crucial to overall health, optimal function, and the body’s ability to respond appropriately to stress. For more on HRV, click here. We can use it to gauge your level of chronic stress and the current capability of your body for healing.

And, of course, we also get “hands-on” and use our expert experience and extensive training to perform static and motion palpation of your spine and joints.

This means that we use our hands to feel what’s going on with you, and specifically assess any problem areas within the spinal structure itself. In static palpitation, you keep your body still while we feel your spine and tissues to discover any problematic issues. We can actually feel problems such as areas of inflammation and pain. With motion palpation, we have you bend or flex a joint while we feel what’s going on with our hand

Full Explanation Of Results

To complete your assessment, we will explain the initial results of your scans and report. Please bring up any questions that you may have. We always say that your assessment is an interactive experience!

During this time you’ll have the opportunity to ask plenty of questions and learn more about your health, and it how may be improved by chiropractic care. No matter what, you will leave with validating information about what we’ve found, WHY you are feeling and experiencing what you are, and we will provide next action steps in order to start getting the improvements you desire!

The Chiropractic Postural X-Ray (If needed)

While they are not always necessary, we may recommend having specific chiropractic postural x-rays taken. This will be indicated by our examination, and details of your health history. Conveniently located in our office, our digital state of the art x-ray setup is simple, safe, and takes  only a few minutes to complete. Please note that x-rays require a separate charge, which will depend on your insurance) benefits check (which will be finished by this point), non-insurance or discount programs. This will clearly be communicated to you before any services are performed.

Your Full Doctor’s Report Of Findings

After your chiropractic assessment, you will be scheduled for your Orientation and Doctor’s Report Of Findings. This is an important follow-up visit that occurs after our doctor and team fully review the findings from your Chiropractic Assessment.

We will take a few minutes to make sure and fully inform you of what you can expect from us, how care works at Elevate, what the adjustment and is like and what makes it different, help you understand normal vs abnormal X-rays etc, so that by the time you see your results, YOU are in control and can make the best INFORMED decisions for you and your family. We believe you deserve to be educated on healthcare decisions you make. After all, the Latin root of “Doctor” actually means teacher! We will review findings from your assessment and x-rays individually with you, and discuss our doctor’s recommendations for care. In that same appointment you will also receive your receive you first adjustment from one of our doctors, should you decide to move forward with us!
